Sage Astringent - for oily skin
4 Tbsp dried Sage
6 Tbsp 100 proof Vodka
1/4 tsp Borax
3 Tbsp witch hazel
10 drops glycerine

Macerate the sage in the alcohol for 2 weeks and then strain.
Dissolve the borax in the witch hazel. Stir mixture into the alcohol.
Mix in the glycerine and pour into a sterile bottle with a tight fitting
lid.
Shake before each use.

Avocado and Nettle Moisturizer
1 tsp Beeswax
2 tsp emulsifying wax
8 tsp hazelnut oil
4 tsp avocado oil
1/8 tsp borax
2 Tbsp strong nettle infusion, warm
4 drops cedarwood essential oil

Melt the waxes together. Warm the oils in a bain de marie and gradually
beat them into the waxes. Dissolve the borax in the warm nettle
infusion. Slowly beat this into the wax mixture. Allow to cool then mix
in the essential oil. Spoon into jars and label.

Lavender Astringent - lavender has great antiseptic qualities. 3 parts
lavender flowers 1 part powdered orris sufficient cider vinegar to cover
Combine ingredients and leave to stand for at least 2 weeks. Strain
through a cloth or coffee filter and bottle. Dilute before using
directly on the skin. Dilution: 2 Tbsp to a wash basin of water should
be sufficient.

Chamomile and Cucumber Lotion - my mom made a similar one without the
glycerine 2 fl oz strong chamomile infusion 12 oz cucumber 6 tsps
glycerine Finely chop the cucumber and squeeze out the juice (or use a
juicer). Slightly warm infusion and stir in the glycerine. When
thoroughly amalgamated, stir in the cucumber juice. Allow to cool and

Solid Bath Oil Bars

Ingredients:
2 ounces deodorized cocoa butter or mango butter
2 ounces beeswax, refined beads
2 or 3 ounces liquid vegetable oil such as jojoba, sunflower, or sweet
almond
2 teaspoons of essential oil or fragrance oil of your choice
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Jojoba Wax Spheres in color of your choice

Melt first oil (hard oil) and pour two ounces into 8 oz Pyrex measuring cup.

Add two ounces of beeswax beads (total of four ounces in cup). Add jojoba
wax spheres. Melt together in microwave.

Now add the liquid vegetable oil. Use 2 ounces for a hard bar, which would
bring your total to 6 ounces or 3 ounces for a softer bar for a total of 7
ounces. Stir to mix thoroughly.

Add essential oil or fragrance oil when mixture has cooled slightly. Pour
into small soap molds. Pop out when cool, about two hours. For best results,
put in refrigerator for a few minutes before popping out of mold.

Uses:
- Wet hands and rub with lotion bar
- Rub on body when getting out of shower while still damp
- Use as drawer sachet
- Cut off a sliver and let melt in hot bath water
- Massage into cuticles to soften them
- Rub into elbows and knees Massage - use softer bar recipe.

Another hard oil you can use is Shea Butter
- use 2 ounces of liquid oil with this in addition to the beeswax. It makes
a very nice bar, especially when using essential oils and jojoba.

You can also use our regular, chocolate smelling cocoa butter. Use scents
such as peppermint or spearmint oil which will compliment the chocolate
smell of the cocoa butter.

Use sunflower oil when you want a lotion bar that absorbs readily into your
skin. Sweet Almond oil is great for cuticles and for a heavier, more
moisturizing bar.

Pink Drink

This is regarded as a potent flower potion, because carnations were used to spice up wines and foods and were also a symbol of passionate love to the Romans - and to modern Italians. They have a wonderful clove-like taste, but you must use the real thing - called clove pink or clove carnation. Sipping this with someone you like quite well could move the relationship on to a higher plateau

You will need:

1 cinnamon stick

petals from about 6 clove carnations (approx. 100g fresh flowers)

a pinch of ground ginger

100g brown sugar

500ml spring water

a few drops of glycerin

sparkling mineral water or lemonade to serve

Put the first five ingredients in a saucepan and bring very slowly to the boil, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat and simmer for about ten minutes, when the syrup begins to thicken, remove from the heat and cool. Add a few drops of glycerin, and the mixture will become pinker. Make up your potion by straining about 30ml of this liquid into a glass and topping up with sparkling water or lemonade. If you're not a teetotaler it is also delicious added to champagne - and will turn it a gentle rose color
